PIK realized in KAPS premises the activity / lecture with the topic “The Role and Importance of Integrity for Police Officers”

Police Inspectorate of Kosovo (PIK) through the Division for Cooperation and Information in cooperation with American ICITAP today has realized an activity with students of Faculty of Public Safety at Kosovo Academy for Public Safety in Vushtrria.
The topic addressed during this activity was “The Role and Importance of Integrity of Police Officers”.
During open discussion with students there were discussed topics related to police integrity, challenges toward strengthening integrity, code of silence, police integrity related to citizens’ credibility in police, etc.

Today a meeting was held at KFOR headquarters between the Chief Executive Officer of Police Inspectorate of Kosovo Ms. Miradije Kelmendi and KFOR Commander in Kosovo Major General Michele Risi.
The interlocutors, after exchanging information about the level of the security in Kosovo and the proficiency achieved by the security institutions, they agreed on the improvement of the mutual cooperation and to set the conditions to meet in the future.

PIK
investigators continued to take investigative actions in coordination with the
competent prosecutor at the crime scene.
Based on
preliminary investigations, the suspect V.H (a member of the Kosovo Police from
the Close Protection Unit) allegedly fired a shotgun toward the victim
following after a dispute over a traffic accident.
As part of the investigation procedure,
PIK seized a GLOCK 9×19 weapon and a charger that was allegedly used by the
suspect in this case. In the vehicle of the suspect (police officer) were also
found and confiscated two Beretta shooter.
PIK investigators in
cooperation with the regional investigation unit have also implemented a search
warrant in Malisheva, Gjilan in the suspect’s home and other facilities.
Further investigative actions in relation to the incident
will be continued by PIK investigators in consultation with the competent
prosecutor.

Kosovo Police received information that in the street “Nato 99” in
Gjilan was an incident with firearms and as a result a person died.
As there were suspicions
that a police officer was involved in the incident, PIK investigators were
notified through “Blue Line”. Based on preliminary investigations, it is suspected that
the suspected person V.H., a member of the Kosovo Police, fired the weapon
toward the victim L.S. PIK
investigators along with the forensic unit and the regional investigation unit
are still examining the crime scene in consultation with the competent
prosecutor. The victim’s body was sent to the Forensic Institute in
Pristina.
The suspect
in this case – the police officer, was arrested by the Police Inspectorate and
by the decision of the prosecutor was given the same measure of detention for 48
hours and suspended from the official duty.
Regarding the incident, further
investigative actions will be continued by PIK investigators in consultation
with the responsible prosecutor.

The Police Inspectorate of Kosovo has
completed the first phase of the capital project planned for this year
“Functionalization and Digitalization of the PIK Archive”.
Within this project was realized the
supply and installation of modular system that possess central locking of each
system and access to the system only by authorized persons.
The modular system enables optimum
utilization of space, protection of archived documents from unauthorized
access, dust protection and fire safety.
This project was supported financially by
PIK and is considered a multi-year project.
The second
phase of the project involves the complete digitization of the archive where
all subjects except the physical form are stored electronically as well as the
creation of an advanced database of the archive office .
