The Police Inspectorate of Kosovo (PIK)
through the Division for Cooperation and Information has realized many
activities in the field of cooperation with citizens, presenting before them
the role, mission and field-activity of PIK.
Such an event on the topic “Police
Inspectorate of Kosovo, Role and Importance in Rule of Law in Kosovo”, was
held today with the citizens of Vushtrria in cooperation with ICITAP, CSAT
(Community Safety Action Team) and “Neighborhood Watchers”.
Such activities aim to strengthen PIK’s
cooperation with citizens but also to raise awareness in the increasing of
transparency and accountability regarding the professional police service.
During the open discussion with the citizens of
Prelluzha on the scope of PIK (role and authorizations), explanations were
given on the progress of the investigative procedure in cases handled by PIK,
inspections and their role in enhancing police professionalism, the importance
of police integrity. etc.
It is worth mentioning that this activity was followed with great interest by the citizens.
They also asked questions that were answered by PIK officials.

Mrs.Miradije Kelmendi with collaborators is participating in the annual EPAC
conference (European Partners Against Corruption) and the General Assembly in Stockholm, Sweden.
The
conference is attended by 33 delegations of police oversight institutions and
anti-corruption agencies from European countries, as well as representatives
from EUROPOL, OLAF and other international and regional organizations.
Important topics
related to strengthening the fight against corruption, strengthening the
integrity of officials and the role of whistleblowers in fighting corruption
are discussed and addressed during the conference.
Various workshops
will be held within the foreseen agenda that will address, topics such as
conflict of interest and integrity in the police field, new challenges and
risks in preventing and combating corruption, etc.
Representatives of the Kosovo delegation at this conference are holding separate meetings with the most of participating delegations from European countries with the aim of recognition and exchange good practice in strengthening the rule of law.

At PIK facility in Hajvali for a week held a training supported by OSCE for the management of financial investigation.
This training module was attended by 19 PIK officials who received additional knowledge on financial investigation techniques and methodologies.
The training was designed to enhance the PIK’s capacity on the effectively exercise the oversight role over the police with particular emphasis on financial investigation.
At the end of the training was organized a ceremony where, the participants were awarded with certificates.

Investigators of the PIKs Department of Investigations have analyzed this information as well as some video footage provided by security cameras at the scene of the incident.
This case, based on the law of PIK was initiated ex officio.
On date 18.11.2019, PIK recommended the suspension of two Police Officers of the specialized unit (SOP – Special Operations Units) with the initials G.P and I.H. until the completion of investigations.
In coordination with the competent prosecutior, the case is being investigated related the suspicions that is committed the criminal offense “Abuse of official position or authority” provided by the article 414 in the Criminal Code for Rep. of Kosovo.

The Police Inspectorate of Kosovo (PIK) today held a workshop on the review of the PIK Strategic Development Plan 2019-2021.
This workshop, held by the support of the OSCE Mission, was attended by officials of OSCE Mission in Kosovo, PIK Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Miradije Kelmendi and other PIK officials. During the workshop was discussed about realization of concrete activities and objectives foreseen in the Strategic Development Plan by PIK Departments, challenges and the importance of implementation of this development plan etc.
