Manager of American ICITAP   in Kosovo, Mrs. Kimberly Riffe, together with Mrs. Shqipe Durguti (ICITAP local coordinator for PIK) met with PIKs Acting CEO, Mr. Kushtrim Hodaj.

This working meeting was held at PIK facility in Hajvalia as a continuation of the ongoing support of ICITAP for the Police Inspectorate of Kosovo.

PIKs Acting Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kushtrim Hodaj thanked the ICITAP officials for the visit and the continuous support that ICITAP is giving to the Police Inspectorate of Kosovo, in addition Mr. Hodaj informed the ICITAP officials on the Operational Plan”Monitoring of the implementation of governmant decisions and preventive measures against Covid-19 pandemic”, a plan which was highly estimated by ICITAP representatives as an action that will affect the efficient work of Kosovo Police.

Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Agim Veliu, visited Police Inspectorate of Kosovo (PIK), where he was hosted by Acting CEO Mr. Kushtrim Hodaj, with whom they discussed the general work of this institution in particular the current situation of management of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On this occasion, Minister Veliu emphasized the support for  PIK, regardin the common goal of a professional and reliable police for the citizens and the international community”I will support PIK with other issues that are professional for training and further capacity building. MIA will work hard in approximation of PIK with the agencies of countries in the region regarding agreements, relations that PIK should have with these agencies in order to fight any form of crime more effectively “,  emphasized Minister Veliu.

While  PIKs acting CEO, Mr. Kushtrim Hodaj emphasized in a meeting with Minister Veliu the way the institution functions, with the activities, challenges and problems  that PIK treats.

“We showed good will to take action in function of the pandemic, to assure the citizens that the measures taken by the government and the police are being implemented fairly,” said Hodaj.

The visit of Minister Veliu to the Police Inspectorate of Kosovo is in the continuation of the visits to the Security institutions, to see closely their readiness and management in dealing with the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Police Inspectorate of Kosovo today in a ceremony organized in Hajvalia, received a contingent of protective equipment (masks, disinfectants and gloves) from the US Government, namely the Bureau of Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL).

Director of INL (International Narcotics and Law Enforcement) Mr. Shawn Waddoups, who handed over the equipment, expressed the US Government’s commitment to supporting law enforcement institutions in Kosovo and continuing to support Police Inspectorate of Kosovo in building professional capacity.


In this ceremony participated also the manager of the American ICITAP in Kosovo, Mrs. Kimberly Riffe, who also confirmed the continuation of support for PIK in the future.

Acting / Chief Executive Officer of PIK Mr. Kushtrim Hodaj thanked the American officials for visiting and donating this very necessary donation for the situation we are in, as well as the continuous support that INL and ICITAP have given to the Police Inspectorate of Kosovo in the field of training, various equipment and professional advice.

PIK operation was conducted on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense

Organizing pyramid schemes and unlawful gambling”.

Prishtina/Gjakova, July  26,2020,

Police Inspectorate of Kosovo about two months ago received information through operational routes that a suspect (police officer in Gjakova) may be involved in illegal activities. Based on this information, PIK investigators in coordination with the competent prosecutor began to undertake investigative / operational actions including covert investigative measures against the police officer.

Based on the evidence gathered and based on the order of the Basic Court in Gjakova, last night an operation was carried out which resulted in the arrest of a police officer and three citizens on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense “Organizing pyramid schemes and unlawful gambling”.

Following the investigative actions, the operation continued with a raid in Gjakova where various pieces of evidence were found and seized.

The detainees in this case were detained by the Police Inspectorate for 48 hours by the decision of prosecutor.

Further investigative actions related to this case will be continued by PIK investigators in constant consultation with the responsible prosecutor.

Prishtina/Peja, July 25, 2020,

Kosovo Police on July 17, 2020 had received a complaint regarding the allegations of a citizen (juvenile – 16 years old) for exceeding police powers during the use of force by two police officers in an incident that occurred on July 17 in Peja.

Based on the legal competencies, the case was forwarded for treatment to the Police Inspectorate of Kosovo, respectively to the Department of investigations. Upon receiving the case, PIK investigators immediately engaged in investigative actions related to this case, which included interviews from eyewitnesses and providing some video recordings.

After investigative actions, in consultation with the competent prosecution, PIK investigators arrested yesterday in the evening two police officers in Peja who were involved as suspects in this incident.Their arrest was made on suspicion that they had committed the criminal offense of “ill-treatment during the exercise of official duties” and “light body injury” and by decision of the prosecutor they were detained for 48 hours and were suspended.One of the police officers already arrested is also suspected of threatening a witness in this incident.

Further investigative actions regarding this case to clarify the circumstances of this incident will continue in constant consultation with the responsible prosecutor.
