Hajvali/Prishtina,
October 28,2020
Police
Inspectorate of Kosovo, respectively its investigators have started the
investigation procedure in September of this year against some suspects (police
officers of Gjakova Police Station).
The
investigation initially started on suspicion of committing the criminal offense
of “causing general danger” related with an incident that occurred on
September 13, 2020.
PIK
has been investigating in this case the circumstances of the use of firearms by
a police officer with the suspicion that in the case of shooting with a firearm
at a moving motorcyclist (suspect)is estimated that his authorizations for the
use of official weapons have been exceeded.
However,
during the investigation of this case, PIK investigators have discovered
additional evidence on suspicion of abuse of official authority by some police
officers (concealment of evidence and information related to the case of
causing general danger).
Referring
to the legal authorizations of the PIK, in the interest of the investigative
procedure, PIK today recommended to the Kosovo Police the suspension of seven
Kosovo Police officers as suspects in this case (a major – Acting Commander of
the Gjakova Police Station, a police lieutenant, four police officers and one
member of KP civilian staff).
Investigators
in coordination with the competent prosecution will undertake other
investigative actions toward the full lightening of circumstances of this case.
