Police Inspectorate of Kosovo, respectively Department of Investigations has arrested today in the morning eight police officers (employees of the Police Station the South – Regional Directorate of Prishtina).

The investigation into this case had started some time ago after receiving a complaint and information through operational channels with the initial suspicion that a police officer was involved in illegal activities.

The investigation has been expanded to include as suspects several other police officers and has included covert investigative measures in coordination with the Basic Prosecution of Prishtina by order of the Pre-Trial Judge and with the support of the Kosovo Police.

As a result of the investigation, today in the early morning hours in Prishtina, an operation codenamed “South” was carried out, in which case eight police officers were arrested on suspicion of the criminal offenses of “ill-treatment in the exercise of official duty”, violation of the right to exercise a legal remedy ”,“ abuse of official position or authority ”,“ exercise of influence ”and“ falsification of official document ”. 

By order of the Basic Court in Prishtina, PIK investigators conducted a search in three locations in Prishtina where various items were confiscated as evidence.

PIK investigators are expected to undertake other investigative actions related to this case in continuous consultation with the responsible prosecutor in accordance with the legal authorizations of the PIK and the Code of Criminal Procedure.
