PIKs investigators from the Department of Investigations have arrested a police officer on suspicion of committing the criminal offense  “domestic violence”.

PIK had received information yesterday in the afternoon from Kosovo Police regarding the suspicion of a police officer in Istog that committed the criminal offense of domestic violence provided by Article 248, the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.

After receiving this information, PIK investigators responded to the call by interviewing the suspect (police officer) and the victim in this case – his wife, who was also provided with medical assistance.

After some initial investigative actions we consulted the competent prosecutor  and by his decision the police officer was detained for 48 hours. Regarding the same case, as part of administrative and investigative procedures, the police officer has been suspended also.

PIK investigators in full coordination with the Prosecution will continue to undertake other investigative actions toward the full clarification of all the circumstances related to this case.
