Press release PIK opens first regional office in Gjilan
In a ceremony organized today in Gjilan, Police Inspectorate of Kosovo (PIK) opened its first regional office. The ceremony organized by PIK for opening of the office was attended by the representatives of the Prosecutor's Office, the Civil Registry Agency, the Kosovo Police, Municipality of Gjilan, as well as representatives of US ICITAP and EULEX. The Chief Executive of PIK, Mr. Fitim Shishani in his occasional speech thanked all the participants and emphasized the importance of the opening of this office: "PIK has not only strengthened at central level, but also the time has come that with our professionalism and with the support of local and international organizations as ICITAP, to open our first regional office that will deal with the complaints of citizens" - said Chief Executive. In his speech he also announced the opening of other offices of PIK in other regions and mentioned two main reasons for opening the regional offices: "The first reason is that PIK becomes closer with the citizens and the second reason is to maintain and strengthen the credibility of the Kosovo Police" - said Chief Executive Shishani, who thanked in particular the Civil Registration Agency, which provided space for this office in its building in Gjilan. The Prosecutor’s Office in Gjilan was also glad for the opening of PIK office. Jetish Maloku, Chief Prosecutor of Basic Prosecution in Gjilan said that the opening of this office will intensify cooperation with the Police Inspectorate: "Even when it was the moment of appointment of prosecutors as coordinators for cooperation with PIK it was Gjilan that preceded this process. I am glad that now the first office of PIK is being inaugurated in Gjilan and now that you are closer, there will be a greater cooperation and this cooperation will be fruitful," he said. The support for the functioning of the PIK Office in Gjilan was also promised by the Deputy President of the Municipality of Gjilan Mr. Rexhep Kadriu, who stated that the opening of this office will make that citizens feel safer. The regional office of PIK which has become operational as of today is located in the premises of the Civil Registration Agency in Gjilan, near the Basic Court.
